Spring Fayre brings sunshine to Tilehurst!

Our Spring Fayre reached new heights this year (and not just because of the climbing wall!). We told you that is was going to be good.. but it was AWESOME! The British weather tried to dampen our fun, but the great Park Lane spirit wasn’t going to give in. Hundreds showed up at the Infants field to enjoy the Fayre: winning fabulous prizes, getting their faces painted, eating yummy food, cakes & ice cream, relaxing with a glass of Pimms and being throughly entertained by the wonderful children in the Arena.

As usual, the Scouts climbing wall & Quirks animals were a real hit, and the Barton Rovers Football Goals provided a little bit of healthy competition. Midnight Florists donated a huge plant stall & many visiting the Fayre went home with beautiful flowers to add to their garden, as well as various veg plants grown by the Infants’ Gardening Club. An addition this year was the wonderful paramedic with this Ambulance and the Fire Engine Crew with their rig, showing the children (big and small) all the gadgets and giving them a chance to climb inside.

And finally, our Raffle and Silent Auction were probably the biggest ever. With donations from over 100 local businesses and individuals, these 2 stalls alone made a huge amount of money for the school and many took home great prizes and bargains.

Our wonderful treasurer has been counting the pounds and we can now reveal that we raised a breath-taking £6,000 for the school. I am sure you’ll agree, this is a staggering figure and as a committee we are immensely chuffed that not only have we been able to put on such a great community event, but that we have been able to raise such a vast amount which will go directly back to the children to enhance their learning & improve their school environment.

We rely heavily on the school community to put on these events, of which you are a part. So thank you if you helped in any way to make this day a success. Special thanks must go to: The Spring Fayre Committee, school staff, all who gave up their time to set up & clear up, those who ran a stall, all families who donated prizes (Jars, Stationery, Bottles, Tombola and Teddies), all who sold their raffle tickets, and to ALL who braved the weather on the day and joined in with our wonderful Fayre!
