Wow! What an afternoon, 9 of our girls, who had never played football before came together to form the Parklane Laurels Girls Football team and took part in our first ever tournament against 4 other West Reading schools.

The girls were awesome from start to finish, they had a great attitude towards the game, each other and the other schools. They demonstrated all the values and respect that we at Parklane value. They listened and took on board everything coach Dave told them to do and they supported and encouraged each other through every game win or loose.

However I’m happy to say that each girl came away from the tournament with a big smile, a love of football and a trophy as we took second place!!!!    WELL DONE to Helena, Prelisha, Holly, Macy, Alexis, Daisy, Anaya, Emelia and Kyra.

It’s term 6 and our last term together in year 2 and the children’s last term in Key Stage 1. Although the children are looking forward to the move to the Juniors and joining the BIG boys and girls it can still be a little nerve racking. so to make the transition as easy and as smooth as possible and to allow the children to become familiar with their new surroundings we will have a number of visits to the juniors.

Visit 1: Mischievous Mo!!!

Kingsley, our class mascot had a friend come to stay called Mischievous Mo and he lived up to his name. Mo let  himself into the juniors and had a good look around and got up to all sorts of mischief. The children followed his trail of selfies to investigate exactly what he got up too!!!

At the end of each term we have a handwriting competition. The children write out a piece of writing in their best handwriting and and a winner is chosen based on who the adults think has tried hard and improved their handwriting. It’s always very hard to choose as all the children try so hard and their handwriting improves each term.

Term 5’s winners are; 1st place = Sebastian       2nd place = Leo          3rd place = Ryan
